The Paddle starts at 7.30 at the Zandvlei mouth next to the road bridge. There is plenty of parking either side of the vlei. Good place to see the paddlers scurrying around to get into the water. The journey up the vlei is against the backdrop of the eastern side of Table Mountain is also spectacular. From here the paddlers are larger hidden as they make their way to Princess Vlei.
Arriving at about 10.30 on the western side of Princess Vlei. The armada will paddle to the Prince Georges Drive side of Princess Vlei. Another great view. Here the paddlers take out their kayaks and re-enter at the Sybrand Park canal next to the entrance to Rondebosch Golf course. Departing at 12 noon.
Lots of viewing sites along the Black River, e.g. section along the M5 in Maitland.
This year the Paddle ends at the mouth of the Salt River between 3pm and 3.30pm. The site where 4 founder paddlers ended their journey of tough day on 23 May 2010.
